The city of Stirling will soon be home to Scotland’s first CBD café, according to the businesswoman behind it.
Claire Watson, 41, aims to open the city centre location later this year. The Hemp Room Café will offer food prepared using hemp oil and drinks laced with CBD oil.
She recently told the Daily Record that she looked into CBD after suffering post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and claims it helped her recovery.
She added: “For me, hemp is about healing, love, and connecting people, and I want to provide a place for people to come and discuss the benefits of hemp for healing themselves, whether that be for chronic pain or mental health issues.
“Some people will have the wrong idea about us, and that’s exactly the type of people I would love to pop in and have a chat when we open.
“This will be the first of its kind in Scotland. Absolutely nothing like this has been done before.”
CBD is believed to have positive medicinal effects, including relieving inflammation, pain control, and reducing anxiety – although research into its health effects are ongoing.
“This will be the first of its kind in Scotland.”

CBD oil is soaring in popularity and can be bought in UK high street shops like Holland and Barrett.
Market research commissioned by the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis (CMC) estimates that the CBD market is currently one of the fastest growing wellbeing product categories in the UK.
An estimated 300,000 people use CBD oil, and the industry could be worth almost £1 billion per annum by 2025.
CBD products, if advertised for these medical purposes, must be licensed.
They can still be sold if claims are not made about their medical benefits.
