Research from online deal-finder reveals massive growth in popularity of cannabis products
Sales of cannabidiol products in the UK are soaring, according to recent market data analysis.
Also known as CBD, year-on-year sales of the products have almost doubled as the ingredient extracted from cannabis plants makes its way into more health and beauty products.
A report by internet deals aggregator Wowcher revealed goods using the natural marijuana compound were flying off the shelves.
The company’s research shows that London has experienced the largest proportion of CBD sales, followed by Cardiff and Edinburgh.
“It’s clear that the discussion around CBD’s health and beauty properties, hailed by celebrities, has influenced shoppers to rush for this trending ingredient,” explained Wowcher’s head of marketing, Alexis Harrison.
“The past three months have seen a huge jump in Wowcher’s sales of CBD products – with CBD oil being the most popular.
“The popularity of CBD shows no signs of slowing, and we’re happy to offer a range of affordable CBD products to our customers.”
As well as emerging scientific reports on the potential health benefits of CBD, the ingredient is also gaining popularity through celebrity endorsement.
Hollywood superstars like Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Aniston have already added their names to the growing list of globally-recognised advocates of CBD.
